Actors Ben Savage and Anson Williams are running for election this year as Americans flock to cast their ballots across the United States on November 8.

The “Boy Meets World” star and the “Happy Days” star, respectively, join a growing list of celebrities who have made the leap from Hollywood to politics.

In particular, former presidents Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump were successful in the film and television industry before attaining the highest elected title in the United States.

Ben Savage is running for the city council of West Hollywood, California.

The actor revealed that he was running because he wants to “restore faith” in the city government.

“I am running for City Council because there are serious challenges ahead and West Hollywood deserves sensible, honest and strong leadership to meet them,” he explained on his campaign website. “I am a long-time resident, union member and concerned citizen who believes that West Hollywood deserves leaders who get results.”

“The city faces serious challenges related to public safety, struggling businesses, inflation and housing costs. We need new leaders with a fresh perspective who are ready to begin addressing these issues.”

According to the “Happy Days” star, who has lived in Ojai since 2011, using her public platform to give back to her community is essential now more than ever. Some of his ideas include establishing a designated “base camp” outside of the city center where tourists and tour buses park and pay, developing more public parking areas to alleviate congestion, joining businesses with the Casitas Water District to implement new programs of conservation, forge a link with the school system and generate new sources of income.

“To me, this is not about politics at all,” he told Fox News Digital. “I’m not running for mayor to get into politics. I’m not a politician. I consider myself a collaborative leader. This is for my community. This is for my friends and all the people who make Ojai such a special place.” important place in our country.

“I feel like I can steer us back in a positive direction for future mayors and future council members. But we have to start first. And I know I can take the lead. That’s why I’m running and I hope to win.” .”

Ronald Reagan had a successful acting career before making the leap to the political arena. He began his acting career in 1937 and would appear in 53 films over the next two decades.

His political ideology changed from liberal to conservative after the issue of communism became more prominent in Hollywood. Ultimately, he decided to run for Governor of California in 1966 and was re-elected in 1970.

Reagan was elected president in 1980 with George HW Bush as his running mate.

The duo won re-election in 1984.

Reagan was known for his roles in such films as “Kings Row,” “Sergeant Murphy” and “The Racing Heart.”

Before running for President of the United States in 2016, Donald Trump starred as the host of “The Apprentice.” The show ran from 2004 to 2017.

The contestants competed to work as Trump trainees on the reality TV show.

Trump ran for re-election in 2020 but lost to incumbent President Joe Biden.

Arnold Schwarzenegger had a successful career in Hollywood before entering politics.

Schwarzenegger was elected Governor of California in 2003 after defeating Democratic incumbent Governor Gray Davis in a recall election.

Before entering the political arena, Schwarzenegger competed in bodybuilding competitions and appeared in many successful movies. He is known for many roles including “Predator”, “Conan the Barbarian” and “The Terminator”.

Schwarzenegger revealed during a conversation with his daughter, Katherine, via Instagram in 2021 that he “had this fixation on fixing the state and making it better.”

The star of “The 6th Day” held the position until 2011.

Jerry Springer was elected mayor of Cincinnati in 1977 after serving as a councilman.

However, he also remained a Hollywood star. From 1991 to 2018, he hosted “The Jerry Springer Show,” a raucous show featuring public broadcasts of guests’ personal dramas, complete with chair throws, fights and heated accusations of infidelity.

The actor is also known for his role in “Ringmaster.”

He ran unsuccessfully for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in 1982 and has flirted with other statewide candidates in more recent years.

Actor Clint Eastwood served as mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California from 1986 to 1988.

By this time, Eastwood had starred in a number of well-received Hollywood films, but took a career hiatus to jump into the political arena. After he finished his term, he did not run for re-election.

He went on to star in such successful films as “Million Dollar Baby”, “Gran Torino” and “Unforgiven”.

Sonny Bono

However, before politics, Franken gained fame as a comedian.

Most notably, Franken appeared on “Saturday Night Live.” He also worked as a writer for the show from the 1970s to the 1990s.
