The good news? HBO has already renewed house of the dragon for a second season. The bad news? We do not know the exact release date. However, we have a good idea when production will start. At the end of September, the Spanish newspaper Today reported that house of the dragon would return to the town of Cáceres —which serves as King’s Landing— to film starting in the spring of 2023.

Given the amount of time it takes to produce a TV season of this magnitude, this production schedule means we won’t see more of the Targaryens until 2024 at the earliest. We’ll just have to sit tight and wait for any casting or production announcements HBO sends out until then.

If you absolutely need to know what happens after Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) puts on her war face at the end of Season 1, you’ve come to the right place. house of the dragon he’s been mostly faithful to his source material so far, so I’m pretty sure he’ll continue to stick to the book after Lucerys (Elliot Grihault) dies. I’m going to be a full spoiler here, so if you don’t want to know the future of A Dance With Dragons, walk away now.

Rhaenyra and Daemon (Matt Smith) will retaliate against Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and her family in a big way. The Black will try to bolster their forces by finding riders for riderless dragons like Vermithor and Seasmoke. Meanwhile, Daemon will attack Harrenhal on the back of a dragon and win it without bloodshed, dealing a heavy blow to the Greens. In fire and blood, this attack occurs while Jacaerys (Harry Collett) and Lucerys are on their missions. Now, with the tragedy of Luc’s death feeding into Daemon, it’s very likely that the show’s version of the attack on Harrenhal will be more violent.

And the violence will only continue! Because Daemon’s next move in the book is among the most horrific events in Westerosi history. (If you have any doubts about spoilers, now is definitely it’s time to go back.) Using his connections to the underbelly of King’s Landing, Daemon enlists the help of two unsavory characters known only as Blood and Cheese. They attack the Red Keep and force Queen Helaena (Phia Saban) to choose which of her children they will kill. They then proceed to murder the son she does not name. The attack is the work of Daemon in fire and bloodbut given the anger in Rhaenyra’s eyes at the end of the finale, is there any chance she’s involved too?

As chaos rages in the south, Jace will travel north to Eyrie and beyond to Winterfell. On his journey north, he will gain allies from Houses such as the Arryns and the Manderlys. He will also befriend Lord Cregan Stark and win him over to Rhaenyra’s cause. Therefore, he can expect a kind of mixed bag from the beginning of house of the dragon Season 2. For one thing, we get the Starks back. On the other hand, we have a more traumatic child murder.

Brace yourselves, fellow viewers: our wait may be long, but the dance ahead is sure to be one heck of a performance.
