Following the historic signing of the concession contract for the indoor basketball court from OAKA to KAE Panathinaikos, Dimitris Giannakopoulos made the following statements:
“The OAKA concession contract was signed. It is a fact now. There are things that are said but not done, and things that are done but are not said, Konstantinos Karamanlis once said. However, there are things that are said and done. You just have to have will and passion. And above all, do not accept defeat. The goal of Panathinaikos, the best team in the history of Greek sports, to have their own home was a personal bet. It was one of the things I had committed to from the get-go and there was no way it wouldn’t happen. Not only for the greatness and history of the Club, but for justice. And from his own house he will launch the counterattack, to return to where he belongs competitively. At the top of Greece and Europe. Basketball is changing, the Euroleague is changing… We pay dearly for our revolution, our fight for justice at all levels. In money and victories. We sent Bertomeu home… Some spoke of vindication.
