by As you know, Warner Bros. has been trying to find someone to lead the DC charge at the studio and it looks like they’ve found a team to take on the challenge. That team consists of the writer and the director. james gunn and producer Peter Saffran.
This is sure to be a big surprise for DC fans! I first learned that Gunn was in talks with WB about this a few weeks ago, but he wasn’t sure if the deal would go through! I also heard at the time that Dwayne Johnson I was actively trying to get that job, but the studio was more interested in getting Gunn on board, which they did! So good for them!
Gunn and Safran will serve as co-chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios, which is a newly formed division at Warner Bros. that will replace DC Films. They will focus on DC’s film, television and animation efforts.
It is explained that Gunn “will focus on the creative side, while Safran will focus on the business and production side. Both are expected to continue directing and producing projects, respectively.” They will report directly to WB director David Zaslav and will work closely with Warner film chiefs. miguel de luca Y pamela abdy.
Sources say the deal runs for four years and Gunn will be exclusive to DC. The goal is for them to not just be producers, but actually function as executives, even as Gunn occasionally directs a movie. So, Gunn is DC’s version of Kevin Feige, and I’m sure he’ll be great in this leadership role!
The guy is super talented and has a great vision for the movies he makes. I can’t wait to see this vision, imagination and talent of his applied to shape the future of the DC Cinematic Universe.
