If your right hand gets tired of holding such a large smartphone, Lenovo’s flexible OLED screen can shrink to four inches, so users can hold their smartphone in their left hand while their right hand takes a break. Lenovo understands the pain of carrying a big, heavy smartphone, so the tech company wants to make it easier for users to choose between a compact and long size.

Roll-up screen doesn’t sacrifice screen size
lenovoLuca Rossi, Executive Vice President and President of Lenovo Smart Devices Group, introduced Lenovo flexible OLED displays in a video reminding viewers of what they can expect at Lenovo Tech World 2022. In the video, he says that Lenovo has pioneered on some technological advances in the electronics industry, including its 360-degree convertible laptop and series of foldable devices under its ThinkPad and Motorola Razr series.
“One component technology we’ve invested in is flexible OLED displays.” says Rossi in the video. ‘Here’s an example we’re working on…’ He reaches into his suit pocket and pulls out the company’s new series of smartphones with rollable screens. When he describes the feature, Rossi says that the flexible OLED screen doesn’t sacrifice screen size. ‘When you need it.’ That sound good.

Lenovo recognizes the tons of potential that rollable displays could bring to users. With that in mind, the tech company is also preparing to vertically expand the screen sizes of its laptops. ‘It will take multitasking, navigation and mobility applications to another level’ says Rossi in the video.
Residents of the internet seem to love the idea of flexible screens for their smartphones and laptops with user comments ranging from ‘great concept – can’t wait to see future designs’ a ‘More vertical real estate is really desirable with programmers and office workers.’ While Lenovo is yet to specify the full features of its new smartphones and laptops, fans can expect rollable displays to be on the table.
