801 Series Ten-Digit Cost-Sharing Numbersthat are usually used by companies to communicate with technical support departments or for telephone orders.

For all the numbers mentioned, with except serial numbers 137which are assigned to provide customer service for damage issues and for which there is an express provision that charges are not charged for calls to them, there is the possibility of charges, with some conditions and limitations, which They are determined by the pricing policy of the electronic communications service providers.

As part of the investigation of relevant cases, the Authority has proceeded with recommendations to all companies and entities that use said numbers so that:

  • consider making special arrangements for incomplete calls, in cases of numbers used to provide information services on a variety of key topics (eg employment, pensions, insurance, health, etc.);
  • Proceed with the establishment of alternative ten-digit geographic numbers for consumer service (when they do not exist and it is feasible), which are included in the integrated benefits of the economic programs of electronic communications service providers and therefore do not incur in additional fixed charges,
  • promote the use of ten-digit geographic numbers for consumer service and
  • provide clear information to consumers about the possible charges that will be derived from the use of special numbers, both in the advertising and promotion of these numbers among the consuming public and in the provision of services through them, recommending and urging consumers Check the rates of your providers.

It should be noted that, after the intervention of the Consumer Ombudsman, to the EFKA regarding the special number 1555, the rate policy of all telecommunications providers was modified regarding the number 1555 and now calls to this number are free.

Finally, the Consumer Ombudsman recommends to consumers, to avoid excessive non-fixed charges on their telephone accounts (fixed and mobile):

  • to avoid the use of special numbers, provided that the alternative possibility of using ten-digit geographical numbers is foreseen and
  • be informed about the tariff policy of their providers, consulting the corresponding tariffs, before using the special numbers.

Password leaks on the dark web and the easy way to fall victim to hackers have caused disruptions to millions of users.

Mobile security company Lookout has published a list of the 20 most common passwords found in stolen accounts on the dark web.

Lookout warns that 80% of users’ emails circulate on the dark web without their knowledge. These leaked emails can lead hackers to the passwords of other online accounts held by users.

If you use any of the passwords below for any of your online accounts, it’s a good idea to change them to something more secure.

According to cybersecurity advisers, those who use these passwords should change them to a more secure option. It is generally recommended to choose a password with more characters and use exclamation points or other symbols instead of letters.

At the same time, an easy way to avoid falling victim to hackers is to not use the same security code for different accounts.
