Roads closed tomorrow until 12 noon in Thessaloniki

Roads closed on Sunday April 30 in the center of Thessaloniki due to the celebration of the 17th International Road Marathon “ALEJANDRO EL GRANDE”, as well as the Dynamic and Health Routes of 5 and 10 km.

According to the Traffic Police, the parking ban has been in force since Saturday night, while the roads will be closed from Sunday morning (at 4 am).

See below in detail the roads and the times that the roads will be closed during the marathon.

VEHICLE PARKING PROHIBITION

Once 10:00 p.m. on Saturday (04-29-2023) and until the end of the sporting events at noon on Sunday (04-30-2023), Vehicle parking will not be allowed on the following streets:

• EO Thessaloniki – Edessa, from the limits of Pella Prefecture to Chalkidona, on the entire width of the road surface, from Chalkidona to the city of Thessaloniki, only in the direction of Thessaloniki.
• K. Karamanli Avenue in Ionia, only in the direction of Thessaloniki.
• Nea Monastiriou (Delta Municipalities – Kordeliou-Evosmou), only in the direction of Demokratias Square.
• Monastiriou to its junction with Giannitsson street, only in the direction of Demokratia square.
• Giannitsson, from its junction with Monastiriou street to its junction with Dafnis street and in its entire width.
• Dafni, from its junction with Giannitsson Street to its junction with the New West Entrance and in its entire width.
• New West Entrance, from its junction with Dafni Street to Palaiou Stathmos Street and in an easterly direction only.
• Old Station, from the New West Entrance to its intersection with Calle 26 de Octubre (Court of Courts).
• October 28 (Ampelokipo-Menemeni Municipality), from M. Alexandrou street to Dendropotamou avenue.
• Dendropotamou Avenue (Ampelokipi – Menemeni, Pavlou Mela, Kordeliou – Evosmou Municipalities), from Karaoli & Dimitriou Street to Th. Hatjikou Street in both traffic flows.
• Th. Hatzikou (Ampelokipi Municipality – Menemeni), from Dendropotamou Avenue to Agamemnonos Street.
• Agamemnonos (Municipality of Kordelio – Evosmou), from Th. Hatjikou street to Monastiriou street.

The current one is remembered ban on stopping and parking vehicles on Tsimiski street and Nikis avenue.

PROHIBITION OF PARKING AND VEHICLE TRAFFIC

• EO Thessaloniki – Edessa (from the limits of Pella Prefecture to Chalkidona, on the entire width of the road surface, from Chalkidona to the city of Thessaloniki, only on the route to Thessaloniki, during the hours 07.30-14.00).
• K. Karamanli Avenue in Ionia (only in the direction of Thessaloniki during the hours of 08:00 to 14:00).
• Nea Monastiriou (Municipalities of Delta – Kordeliou-Evosmou, only in the direction of Democracy Square, from 08:00 to 14:00).
• Monastiriou (up to its intersection with Giannitsson street, only in the direction of Democracy Square, from 08:00 to 14:00).
• Giannitsson (from its junction with Monastiriou street to its junction with Dafnis street, from 08:00 to 14:00).
• Dafni (from its junction with Giannitsson street to its junction with the New West Entrance and in its entire width, from 08:00 to 14:00).
• New western entrance (from its junction with Dafnis street to Palaiou Stathmos street and only in the eastward flow, during the hours of 08:00 to 14:00).
• October 28 (Municipality of Ampelokipi – Menemeni, from M. Alexandrou street to Dendropotamou avenue in both directions, from 06:00 to 11:00).
• Dendropotamou Avenue (Municipalities of Ampelokipi – Menemeni, Pavlou Mela, Kordeliou – Evosmou), from Karaoli & Dimitriou Street to Th. Hatjikou Street and both traffic flows, from 08:30 to 11:00).
• Th. Hatzikou (Municipality of Ampelokipi – Menemeni, from Dendropotamos Avenue to Agamemnonos Street, from 08:30 to 11:00).
• Agamemnonos (Municipality of Kordelio – Evosmou, from Th. Hatzikou street to Monastiriou street, from 08:30 to 11:00).
• Vas Avenue. Georgiou (from its junction with Napoleón Zerva street to its junction with 3 de Septiembre street, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.).
• Man. Andronikou (during the hours from 12.00 to 14.30).
• Tsimiski (during the hours from 12.00 to 14.30).
• Polytechnic University (from 12:00 to 14:30).

Restrictions on traffic and vehicle parking It will be applied gradually and depending on the point of movement of the runners.

Drivers are asked to stop on time their vehicles from the traffic lanes of the runners, to comply with the instructions of the traffic controllers which will cover the entire route and choose alternative routes in time to avoid creating traffic jams.

The traffic police ask for the understanding and cooperation of citizens.
